Laois open their National Hurling League campaign at home to Down this weekend.
The O'Moore County will be chasing promotion back to Division One after dropping down last year.
Willie Maher's side will be expected to top the standings in the league, and follow that with an effective assault on the Joe McDonagh Cup.
Fans will have seen victory against Offaly followed by defeat to Galway as about level par for pre-season with a number of the county's under 20 hurlers being given mileage at senior level.
