Pat Roe catches up with Midlands 103 after their opening day victory in Portlaoise.
Portarlington began their Laois Senior Football Championship challenge with a win last night.
Pat Roe's side were three point winners over O'Dempsey's in a re-run of the 2022 decider.
The county champions of 2020, 21, and 22, started well and managed to reach the break two points to the good.
It looked like the win was sealed early in the second period after a run of five scores, including a goal from Jake Foster.
A brace of late goals for O'Dempsey's brought the gap back down to a single point before Portlarlington sealed a 1-16 to 2-10 victory with the last two points of the contest.
Port boss, Roe says he's happy with how his players have started their championship:
He reviews the game in full with Midlands 103's commentator, Pat O'Sullivan:
In last night's other senior grade meeting, Courtwood ran out seven point winners over Killeshin.
That game finished 1-14 to 0-10.
This evening, the defending county champions St Joseph's open their campaign against Graiguecullen at the LOETB Centre of Excellence in Portlaoise.
While Ballylinan play Portlaoise in Stradbally - both games throw in at 7.30pm.
