They were seven point winners over Courtwood on a scoreline of 2-12 to 1-08 on Saturday evening.
Two goals either half from Ciaran O'Neill and Darragh Carolan who impressed with a tally of 1-03 helped Stradbally to victory.
They will face reigning champions Portarlington in Round 2 of the Winner’s Section after they opened their campaign with a four point win over Ballyfin.
