Laois Suffer Heavy Defeat In Opening Round Of Joe McDonagh

Attention now turns to their clash with Antrim this weekend.

Laois Manager Tommy Fitzgerald says this weekend's game against Antrim is now a do or die encounter. 

He watched as his side fell to an opening round defeat away to Carlow in the Joe McDonagh Cup on a final scoreline of 4-17 to 1-17. 

Goals from James Doyle, Fiachra Fitzpatrick, Chris Nolan and Conor Kehoe sealed the victory for the Carlow men, with Ben Conroy getting the only goal of the game for Laois.

The O'Moore County now turn their attention to the clash at home to Antrim this Saturday.

Meanwhile, 0-10 from David Williams and 1-4 from Eoin Keyes secured Westmeath their opening win of the campaign. 

Kevin O'Brien's side secured a 1-22 to 0-15 win away to London.
