Leinster Club Championship Continues For Midlands Contingent

A number of teams enter the fray at senior level this weekend.

It was a mixed bag for teams from Laois, Offaly and Westmeath in the Leinster club championship last weekend.

Tullamore suffered heartbreak at the hands of Kildare champions Nass away from home as they struck with a fortuitous late goal.

Elsewhere Clara dished out a thumping at to Longford's Intermediate Football Champions St. Brigid's Killashee, scoring six goals in the process to set up a tie with Dublin champions Donabate on December 4th.

Staying in the intermediate grade Park/Ratheniska followed up their Laois title by beating Naomh Eoin of Carlow on Saturday. They face Wexford opposition at the quarter-final stage on the same day.

In the junior ranks Clonbullogue will have another day out after they dismantled Legan Sarsfields of Longford in round one. They'll have another home tie in the last eight as Louth champions Glen Emmets.

Emmets advanced off the back of a win against the Meath champions St. Vincents.

Switching codes at Ballinakill came out on top in a thrilling all midlands encounter against Cullion in TEG Cusack Park in Mullingar.

Seamus Fitzpatrick hit 2-3 as they came from six points down at one point to oust the Westmeath champions on home turf, 3-12 to 3-11.

That sets up a tie with Kilkenny champions Glenmore in Abbeyleix this Saturday at 1pm.
