Positive Lions Player Returns Negative Covid Test 24 Hours Later

Two members of the management team tested positive again though.

The Lions player who tested positive for COVID-19 yesterday has returned a negative result today.

If that player produces another negative test tomorrow then they'll be released from isolation to play against the Sharks in Pretoria on Saturday afternoon.

The two members of the management team who tested positive yesterday have again tested positive today.

They'll remain in isolation along with four close contacts - which includes two players.

Meanwhile the team sealed another dominant win in their second warm up match in South Africa.

They ran in eight tries in a 54-7 victory - including one from Connacht's Bundee Aki - having been forced to make four changes to the starting line up after positive Covid tests in the camp placed eight players in self-isolation.

Head coach Warren Gatland thinks they did incredibly well under the circumstances:

Doubt surrounds the viability of the tour with Covid-19 cases in both the Lions and South African camps.

The Springboks' game against Georgia has been cancelled due to positive tests in both sides.
