The Irish pair enjoyed a bogey-free first round at the Zurich Classic.
The team of Shane Lowry and Rory McIlroy are in a share of the lead after day one of the Zurich Classic of New Orleans.
The duo shot an 11 under par round of 61 in the opening fourballs.
Four birdies in the first four holes set them on their way, they picked up another two on the front nine to make the turn 6 under par.
Five more birdies on the way home ensured the pair were perfectly positioned heading in to today's foursomes.
McIlroy says fourballs is often played aggressively, but he and Lowry are happy to play smart golf this weekend:
They'll be back out just before 3pm Irish time for today's foursomes.
