Lowry Starts With A 72 At Open Championship

The Clara man is six off the leaders.

2019 Open champion Shane Lowry has finished his opening round 1-over-par during The Open Championship at Hoylake.

The Offaly man's first round included three birdies, four bogey's and eleven pars. 

Lowry says he felt it was an average round to start with:

Rory McIlroy is even par after four holes of his opening round. 

Seamus Power is a shot back on level-par after carding an opening round round of 71. 

Darren Clarke is 2-over with Padraig Harrington 3-over-par.

South African amateur Christo Lamprecht and England's Tommy Fleetwood share the lead on 5-under.
