Lowry Launches Himself Into Canadian Open Contention

The Clara man shot bogey free round in Toronto yesterday.

Shane Lowry is in contention after the first day of the Canadian Open. 

The Offaly man was four under par after a strong front nine, he managed one more birdie on the 18th to card a bogey-free 65, to finish the day on -5.

He trails six golfers who are a shot better off.

The former Open champion will tee off his second round at 12.55pm.

Seamus Power goes into day two at +1, with Padraig Harrington +3.
