Lowry Leads After Electric Back Nine

Despite struggling at the Arnold Palmer Invitational in the past the Offaly man leads the field.

Shane Lowry leads at the Arnold Palmer Invitational in Florida.

The Clara golfer played the front nine at Bay Hill in one under before playing the next four holes in five under par.

His next hole saw his only bogey at the 14th. Lowry got that shot back at 17 to card an excellent 6 under par round of 66 to hold a one shot lead heading into day 2.

After struggling for years at Bay Hill, the 2019 Open Champion says he knew he was in good form this week.

Rory McIlroy is one over, while Seamus Power is Level par.

On the DP World Tour Tom McKibbin has improved to 7 under in his second round at the Jonsson Workwear Open in South Africa - he's three shots behind leader Thriston Lawrence.

At the Blue Bay LPGA in China, Stephanie Meadow carded a four under 68 in her second round to improve to 6 under par, two shots off the pace.
