The Offaly man recovered from a shaky start at Royal County Down.
Shane Lowry has just resumed his Irish Open challenge from one over par this morning.
He got to the Royal County Down clubhouse with his hopes just about intact - but he'll have work to do over the next three days if he's to compete at the top of the leaderboard.
The Clara man got off to a poor start, with bogeys on the second and third holes.
Lowry steadied himself over the remainder of the day picking a a birdie and a bogey until the 18th par 5.
