Westmeath dropped out of the Leinster Championship after their defeat to Antrim.
Westmeath should look forward to being one of the stronger teams in the Joe McDonagh Cup next year.
That's the word from former Lake County hurler and footballer Alan Mangan after watching Antrim run out comfortable winners against Joe Fortune's men on Sunday.
It looked like Westmeath secured their safety in the Leinster Championship with a win over Wexford in the previous round, only for the Yellowbellies to beat Kilkenny in the last set of fixtures.
Mangan says his county and Offaly will be standout teams in the competition next year:
