The Donegal man was part of the Westmeath management team during the 2025 season.
Mark McHugh is set to be appointed the new manager of the Westmeath Senior Footballers.
The Donegal man will take over from Dermot McCabe following his decision to step away from the role after just one season in charge.
McHugh was part of McCabe's coaching team in 2025, and has had previous stints with the Roscommon Senior Footballers and the Donegal Ladies Football team.
Westmeath's first competitive game in 2026 will be in Division Three.
