The former Cavan star has enjoyed inter-county and club success in Ulster.
Dermot McCabe was last night confirmed as Westmeath’s new senior football manager, replacing Dessie Dolan.
A former All Star with Cavan, McCabe was a selector when his native county won the Ulster title in 2020.
He was also part of the management team that led Gowna to back-to-back club titles in Cavan.
As a player, he won six Senior Club Championships and secured both the Ulster Under-21 and Senior titles with Cavan.
Westmeath GAA's also confirming Mark McHugh is joining the inter-county set-up as a coach.
The ex-Donegal star has been coaching in Galway this year.
He's helped Moycullen to a county final in the Connacht county - they face Corofin on Sunday week.
McHugh has also coached under Davy Burke at Roscommon in 2023.
