McIlroy finished on 17-under - one shot clear of Kurt Kitayama in second.
It's the ninth time the Down native has reached number one in the world.
Shane Lowry finished in a tie for 23rd on six-under after a disappointing final two rounds of 71 and 72.
The Clara man started both of those rounds well but errors at the end of his front nine and throughout his back nines left him off the pace.
Seamus Power ended the week on level par.
