It had been 32 years since Portlaoise landed in the FAI Cup first round.
Portlaoise's FAI Cup dream ended in a first round defeat at the hands of Skerries yesterday.
The Laois club reached the national cup's first round for the first time in 32 years after a shock win over Usher Celtic.
Skerries knocked Portlaoise out of the Intermediate FAI Cup and doubled the pain with a 3-0 win on Sunday.
The goals came courtesy of Robert McKenna, who helped himself to a brace for the Dublin side, and Josh Cullen who struck late on.
