Midlands Counties Set For Big Weekend

The Inter-county seasons of Westmeath, Offaly and Laois could be over by Sunday.

It could be a momentus weekend for the midlands counties in football and hurling.

The region has representation in the All Ireland Senior Championships in both codes, and the Tailteann Cup.

Tomorrow, Laois will be bouncing into their Tailteann Cup meeting with Limerick after they landed a surprise success away to Fermanagh last time out.

Throw in at the TUS Gaelic Grounds in Limerick is set for 3 o'clock.

From 4 o'clock, Offaly are hurling in the All Ireland Championship.

Their reward for making a Joe McDonagh Cup final this year is a date with Tipperary in the preliminary quarter finals of the Liam McCarthy Cup.

The winner of that contest will face beaten Leinster finalists Galway in the quarter final.

There'll be full live commentary of both games on Midlands 103 throughout the afternoon.

In the All Ireland Senior Football Championship Westmeath footballers have put both Armagh and Galway to the pin of their collar but have come out on the wrong of the result on both occasions.

Their last chance to progress to the knockouts comes against 2021 Champions, Tyrone throw in is set for 4 o'clock on Sunday.
