Midlands Soccer Delivers Goals Galore

Mullingar Celtic progressed in the Paddy Cotter Cup while it was a good weekend for St Peter's.

Mullingar Celtic emerged from a dramatic Paddy Cotter Cup First Round tie against Clonaslee United over the weekend.

The game was tied at two goals a-piece when penalties were called for to separate the sides.

The Westmeath club were 4-2 winners on spot kicks to advance to the next round.

In the CCFL Senior Division, St Peter's underlined their title aspirations with a thumping 9-0 victory over bottom side Abbeyleix Athletic.

That result puts St Peter's joint top of the league with two games in hand over Willow Park.

Willow Park were well beaten 5-1 on the road to Clara Town.

Elsewhere four teams played out entertaining draws in the Senior Division, it finished Ballinahown 3 Monksland United 3, and Mountmellick United 2 Birr Town 2.
