Mixed Bank Holiday Weekend Fortunes for Athlone Town's Men and Women

The Women's National League side have notched a third win in a row.

Athlone Town continue the search for their first SSE Airtricity League of Ireland First Division win of the season after back-to-back defeats over the Bank Holiday weekend.

After a 3-0 home defeat to Wexford on Friday, the midlanders conceded a 74th minute winner to Waterford last night as they were beaten 1-0.

Next up for Athlone is a home clash against league leaders Cork City on Friday night.

However, the Athlone Town Women's National League side are climbing up the table after a third successive win at the weekend.

They beat Sligo Rovers 5-0 at home on Saturday to move to fifth in the table.
