A late free-kick was the difference against Birr Town.
A Chloe Carroll strike was enough to give Mountmellick United a 1-0 victory in the Combined Counties Football League Women’s Shield Final.
They overcame opponents Birr Town with a stunning free-kick deep into the second half.
It meant the Laois side avenged two defeats to their Offaly opponent's during the league season and made it a disappointing weekend for Birr who's men's team also lost the CCFL Cup final on Saturday.
It does cap a successful season for the town's soccer teams after Mountmellick United men returned to the top flight of the combined counties football league by topping division one.
