Matthew Glennon will compete in the U-20 ten kilometre race.
Mullingar's Matthew Glennon has been selected to represent Ireland at the 2022 World Race Walking Team Championships.
The 18 year-old will compete in the U20 Men's 10km at the event in Oman at the start of next month.
He placed 22nd at the European Athletics U20 Championships in Tallinn last summer.
Glennon is coached by Michael Lane, who also coached Olympian Jimmy McDonald. The sole other Irish selection is Brendan Boyce of Finn Valley AC.
Boyce will go in the Senior Men’s 35km race and is under the tutelage of Olympian Rob Heffernan.
Boyce has had a strong opener to the season, with a 12th place finish in the Spanish Open 20km race in a time of 1:27:13.
The Finn Valley star had an impressive 2021, coming 10th in the Tokyo Olympic Games 50km Walk in August, after coming 9th in the European Race-Walking Team Championships in the Czech Republic just months before in May.
The event takes place on the 4th and 5th of March.
