Mullingar Greyhound Track Takes Centre Stage As Part Of Extended Coverage

The Racing Post Greyhound TV is launching an extended trial this Sunday.

Mullingar Greyhound Stadium feature as part of Racing Post Greyhound TV all day Sunday coverage

Racing Post Greyhound TV is to launch an extended trial of all-day coverage on Sundays commencing on August 1 in what is the dedicated greyhound programme’s most ambitious expansion yet.

Additionally, it has been confirmed that the Saturday morning programme launched in February is now a permanent addition to the schedule meaning that 20 meetings weekly will now be shown.

The Sunday programming on RPGTV, which is broadcast via Sporty Stuff TV on Sky Channel 437, Freesat 250 and streamed online at sportystuff.tv, will begin at 10.30amwith Doncaster and Harlow the first two meetings to feature.

After they have finished Towcester picks up the baton just before 2pm and the Derby host venue will then be joined by Mullingar around 75 minutes later in what will be the first regularly-scheduled Irish coverage on RPGTV.

Those fixtures run through to just after 6pmwhen regular Sunday evening hosts Central Park and Henlow step in with programming continuing until their conclusion.

RPGTV chairman and chief executive Kevan Moretti said:

"It's another big step up for RPGTV and our viewers. It brings on a regular Irish fixture for the first time and we are hoping our audience will support and enjoy the new programming.”

Paul Witten, commercial director at SIS, added:

“We are pleased to have extended our partnership with RPGTV and are able to supply high-quality greyhound action for their viewers on Sundays. "We are confident that the Sunday racing will prove popular, and it is great to be adding some of our Irish greyhound content to the service and extend its reach further.”

Ger Dollard CEO of Greyhound Racing Ireland said,

"Sunday racing at Mullingar has been a very successful race event in recent years. The regular coverage on RPGTV gives the opportunity to increase the reach of the Mullingar event and further build the support for Irish greyhound racing".

SportyStuffTV launched on February 1 and, in addition to the daily greyhound content provided by RPGTV, has also been showcasing live darts and live pool in the shape of the Online Live Darts League and IPA Champions Cup respectively.

Moretti says that, far from the threatening greyhound racing coverage, the expansion into other sports has actually strengthened its position.  He said: "The recent investment in our channel SportyStuffTV has delivered the vehicle to expand our greyhound coverage, and at the same time allowed us to put up new sports content.

"Our aim is to significantly expand the audience for the channel as a whole, bringing in new viewers in to enjoy a growing set of sports content centred around our greyhound programming. There is still plenty of broadcast space to share on SportyStuffTV and we look forward to further announcements in the coming months."
