There's scope for one to have more success over obstacles this summer.
Mullingar’s Ciaran Murphy saddled the Dot Love-owned Chica Power to win the seven-furlong handicap last Wednesday evening.
A 16/1 chance under Gavin Ryan, the four-year-old overcame an unfavourable wide draw as she beat the well-fancied 3/1 joint-favourite Reverberation by half a length.
Murphy said:
“She won a barrier trial here as a two-year-old and then didn’t really let herself down on the surface for a while after that.
She’s been consistent on her last few runs and it’s lovely to see her winning.
She’ll go jumping over the summer and we’ll try and get another one with her here.
She has a bit of size and strength.”
Murphy and Dot Love were winners again at Dundalk on Friday where the four-year-old Stardayz ran away with the eight-furlong fillies’ maiden.
An 11/2 chance in the hands of Luke McAteer, the daughter of Camelot made all the running as she beat the Ado McGuinness-trained Gold Wing by three and a half lengths and the success reduces McAteer’s claim to 3lbs.
