NFL And NHL Results: Westmeath Win Division One Fight With Laois

Joe Fortune's team will be hurling at the top table in the league next year.

Westmeath hurled their way out of relegation trouble in Semple Stadium on Saturday.

Joe Fortune's side overcame Laois in the Division One relegation play-off.

The final score was 3-24 to 1-26 in Westmeath's favour.

Offaly will play Kildare in the Division 2A final after they recovered from a poor first half to beat Kerry 23 point to 19 in O'Connor Park.


Offaly and Westmeath will be staying in Division Three of the Football League for 2024 while Laois missed out on promotion in Division Four yesterday. 

In Tullamore, Down were by far the better side against Offaly yesterday. They ran out 1-18 to 0-9 winners.

Laois were impressive 6-6 to 2-8 winners over London in Ruislip but failed to finish in the top two as Sligo beat Leitrim.

Westmeath knew their promotion hopes were over before this weekend, they signed off their league campaign on a winning note against Tipperary in Mullingar where it finished 1-13 to 0-10.
