Westmeath Football Manager Mark McHugh admits his side were second best to Laois during their clash on Sunday.
Laois secured a 3-16 to 1-13 win over the Lake County, giving Westmeath their second defeat in Division Three.
Luke Loughlin finished as his side's top scorer with 1-6, while Kevin O'Sullivan also impressed with 0-3.
Ray Connellan was also sent off for the visitors.
Westmeath are at home to Limerick in two weeks time.
