The Faithful County had no answer to Cork's powerful running game in their Division One clash.
A series of early missed opportunities set Offaly up for an uncompromising defeat at the hands of Cork in Tullamore yesterday.
Johnny Kelly's team made a decent start in the first quarter against the Munster side but found the green flag raised against them five times over the course of the contest.
The final score in Tullamore was 5-28 to 0-16.
Kelly says there can be no excuses but believes a better start could have softened the blow.
The Offaly manager who battling a lengthy injury list, is also pointing to the aggressive and decisive defending Cork had on display.
