Midland County's Teams Named For O'Byrne Cup On Busy Night For GAA

Games are being ran the Connacht Hurling League, McGrath Cup, and Doctor McKenna Cup as well.

Laois and Westmeath begin inter-county competition this evening in the first round of the O'Byrne Cup.

Dessie Dolan succeeds Jack Cooney who brought a Tailteann Cup to the Lake county with his last act.

Billy Sheehan will be over the Laois footballers for a second season.

It's Westmeath against Louth in Darver, and Laois welcome Longford to Portarlington.

Both games throw in at 8 o'clock this evening.

Elsewhere in the O'Byrne Cup, Dublin face Wicklow in Baltinglass, with Meath away to Carlow, and Wexford are up against Kildare.

Davy Fitzgerald began his new spell on the Waterford sideline by watching his hurlers overcome Tipperary by 21 points to 1-15 in the Munster League. 

In the Connacht Hurling League later today, Leitrim face Roscommon and it's New York versus a Galway Development team. 

All Ireland senior football champions Kerry are in McGrath Cup action in Munster against Cork at Pairc Ui Rinn this evening. 

Limerick and Waterford go head to head in Rathkeale. 

In Ulster's Doctor McKenna Cup tonight, Tyrone play Fermanagh in Omagh, as Monaghan take on Down and Armagh face Antrim.
