Down were in Tullamore on Sunday and were ultimately dispatched 1-26 to 1-15.
That result leaves the Faithful County top of the standings with two rounds to play.
Offaly now have a long overdue break, having played week in week out for the last seven weekends.
Speaking to Joe Troy after the game, Kelly says he's happy his players closed out the game but wants to see improvements next time out:
