Ben Conneely says it's a huge boost for everyone in the county.
Offaly's hurling captain Ben Conneely believes the county's partnership with Shane Lowry will boost the faithful's profile internationally.
The Open Champion yesterday agreed to come on board for five years to support a variety of structures within Offaly GAA with a particular focus on the underage set up.
A statement from Offaly GAA said:
Offaly GAA are in the process of preparing a Strategic Plan which will have a significant focus on player development. As an elite international sportsman. Shane has offered his experience and expertise to inspire and help improve the development of our players.
Conneely says there's a massive feel good factor in Offaly as a result:
"What a thing to do, the boost it will bring to the county"
