Offaly Keep Minor Hopes Alive With Win Over Longford

Laois were beaten for the second game in a row.

Offaly secured a big win in the Leinster Minor Football Championship last night.

The Faithful were too strong for Longford in group two as they recorded an emphatic 6-23 to 1-12 win over Longford at the Faithful Fields.

Paddy Burns impressed with 1-7, with Oliver Goulding also starring with 1-3.

The win secures Offaly a preliminary quarter-final, with their final group game set to be against Westmeath.

Elsewhere, in group one Dave McGrath’s Laois suffered a second defeat of their campaign as they were beaten by Louth.

Fionnan Brennan was his side's top scorer with 0-4, while David Timmons and Thomas Lawler kicked 0-2 each.

The O'Moore County can still progress if they beat Meath next Wednesday.
