Offaly Pass Stiff Leitrim Test

The midlanders are closing in on promotion.

Offaly footballers Paddy Dunican, Cathal Flynn, and Jordan Hayes are being singled out for praise after a hard fought win over Leitrim in Division Three of the National Football League last weekend.

The Connacht side proved sticky opposition for the midlanders despite been placed bottom of the division.

Leitrim led by five points inside the opening 10 minutes but Declan Kelly and Mickey Harte's team responded by taking a one point lead in at the break thanks to a goal from John Furlong right before the whistle.

Despite a Leitrim goal in the 60th minute to cut the advantage to just two, the Faithfull County tagged on further scores to close out a 1-9 to 1-13 victory.
