He is set to compete in the Italian F4 Championship.
Offaly teenager Alex Dunne has committed to the US Racing team for a second season and will partake in the Italian Formula 4 Championship in 2022.
The 16-year-old has been testing their Tatuus F4 Gen 2 car in recent months and will pick up where he left off in the F4 UAE Championship.
He spent the 2021 season on the books of US Racing in ADAC.
Speaking about the move, Dunne said:
Last year I felt really good racing with US Racing in Formula 4. We had some really good race weekends in F4 and I was able to develop and grow as a race driver.
This year, we will have the new Tatuus Formula 4 car. While competing in the Formula 4 UAE Championship, I was able to get to know the car and get practice.
We are now in the middle of the season preparation with Testing in Europe and it is a lot fun, getting to know the car and the tracks in Europe.
I have high demands on myself and will give everything together with my Team to have a successful season 2022”.
Team boss Gerhard Unger speaks very highly of Alex;
Alex is a very talented, young driver which he already showed in last years’ races. Alex is very ambitious and fast, a good combination for a talented junior race driver.
I am very happy to build on last years race season and working together also in 2022.
The upcoming race season 2022 will be a special season with new challenges, especially with the new Tatuus F4 Gen 2, which I am very much looking forward to”.
Ralf Schumacher is also pleased working again with Alex in 2022:
“Alex has a big potential becoming a professional race driver, which he showed already last year.
I am sure we will see some great races of Alex this year.”.
