Galway proved resilient opponents in the Leinster Championship contest on Saturday.
Offaly narrowly missed out on booking their passage to the Leinster Under 20s Hurling Championship semi-finals on Saturday.
The Faithful County had to settle for a draw against Galway in Tullamore after holding a commanding lead in the second half.
Galway were a point to the good at half time despite playing in to a considerable breeze.
However it was Offaly that took command in the second period to lead by five with ten minutes on the clock.
Adam Screeney was to the fore throughout the game amassing eight points, seven of which from frees.
In the first half, he brought a reflex save from Tribesmen keeper Daragh Walsh who deflected his effort on to the bar.
Galway were reduced to 14 after Joshua Ryan was sent off for hauling down Leigh Kavanagh.
Dan Ravenhill missed the resulting penalty and Galway raced back in to the contest to claim a draw.
Offaly boss Leo O'Connor says his side knows where they went wrong.
He looks back on an up and down contest in O'Connor Park with Joe Troy:
