Pat Roe's side were convincing 1-12 to 0-6 winners over Carlow side Old Leighlin in the first round on Saturday night.
Rioghan Murphy added a late goal to finish with 1-2, while Colm Murphy finished with 0-4 for the Laois side.
The victory now means Portarlington will take on Louth champions Naomh Mairtin in two weeks time.
