The long time member of Edenderry had a week to remember in winning the Irish Close Championship.
This year's Irish Close Champion Quentin Carew is paying tribute to Edenderry Golf Club .
The amateur golfer and full-time garda brought Hugh Foley down the stretch and beyond at Headfort Golf Course on Wednesday to secure one of the three Irish amateur majors.
Trailing after the front nine, cheered on by former Edenderry team mates, Carew reeled in Hughes, who himself was chasing a remarkable hat trick after winning the North of Ireland and South of Ireland titles already.
Level after 18, their match-play went to a second play-off hole until Carew hit his second shot two iron to within 8 feet.
Hughes missed his birdie putt, Carew drained his eagle and scored a career defining victory.
Taking some time from his shift at Tallaght station in Dublin, Quentin begins his chat with David Hollywood by saying he's still coming to terms with the win:
