He's now in a battle to be fit to face the All-Blacks in two weeks time.
The IRFU say Robbie Henshaw is continuing to rehabilitate a foot injury as Ireland ramp up preparations for the November internationals.
Henshaw won't play any part of the game against Japan next weekend and is continuing his battle to be fit for the test against New Zealand next weekend.
It comes as Ireland called up Mack Hansen, just five games into his Connacht career.
The versatile back joined the province from Brumbies in the summer, and qualifies for Ireland through his Cork-born mother.
Hansen’s been added to Andy Farrell’s squad ahead of Saturday’s test with Japan.
November Internationals:
Japan - Saturday 6th November, 2021
New Zealand - Saturday 13th November, 2021
