Ireland enjoyed a bumper day out under the Bordeaux sun on Saturday.

Ireland began their hunt for a first ever World Cup success with a 82-8 win over Romania in Pool B on Saturday. 

Andy Farrell's side ran in 12 tries including braces from Johnaton Sexton, Bundee Aki, Peter O'Mahony and Tadhg Beirne, with Jamison Gibson-Park, Hugo Keenan, Joe McCarthy and Rob Herring all getting one each. 

Elsewhere in Ireland's group, reigning World Champions South Africa had a comfortable 18-3 win over Scotland, with Pieter-Steph du Toit and Kurt-Lee Arendse crossing over the line for the Springboks. 

In Pool A, Holders France started with a 27-13 win over three time champions The All Blacks in the opener on Friday night. 

Two tries from Damian Penaud and Melvyn Jaminet along with five penalties from the boot of Thomas Ramos gave the French the ideal start to their campaign.

Italy ran in seven tries as they hammered Namibia 52-8 in Pool A. 

In Pool C, England and Australia got off to winning starts. Eddie Jones' Wallabies were made work hard but did enough to see off Georgia by 35-15.

Meanwhile George Ford scored six penalties and three drop goals to help England beat Argentina 27-10. 

Finally, in Pool D, Japan had a 42-12 victory over Chile. 

And, Wales survived a stern test from Fiji as Warren Gatland's side came away with a bonus point 32-26 win.
