Rynagh's, Rathdowney/Errill, Clonkill Prevail in SHC Finals

Dramatic day in local championships

It was a dramatic day in the region yesterday with three county senior hurling finals down for decision.

In Offaly St Rynagh's came from seven points down to pip Birr by a point in O'Connor Park.

In Laois last years' beaten finalists Rathdowney/Errill had five points to spare against Borris/Kilcotton.

Mark Kavanagh scored 11 points from placed balls as they won by 0-17 to 1-9

In Westmeath Clonkill have gone top of the roll of honour as they defeated Castletown Geoghegan by 2-16 to 1-16 to retain their title.

Veteran Brendan Murtagh scored 6 points for  the champions.
