Shane Lowry And Rory McIlroy In Action At Players Championship

The pair tee off their opening rounds this evening.

Shane Lowry is back in action at the Players Championship at Sawgrass later today.

The Offaly man tees off at 5:18pm.

Lowry is hoping for an improved performance after missing the cut at the Arnold Palmer Invitational last week.

Meanwhile, Lowry says the Players Championship shouldn't be given official major status.

The PGA Tour's flagship event gets under way at Sawgrass today, with the Irishman looking to build on his strong early season form.

He says the tournament already has all the prestige it needs without being labelled golf's fifth major.

Rory McIlroy begins the defence of his title this evening.

The Masters Champion arrived at the venue yesterday, having received treatment for the back injury he sustained at the Arnold Palmer Invitational last week.

McIlroy is out on course from 5:40pm Irish time.
