He shot a 7-under round of 63 to move up to a tie for 5th on the PGA Tour.
Shane Lowry’s now just a shot off the lead after his second round at the Wyndham Championship.
The Open champion shot a 7-under par round of 63 to end the day on - 9 and firmly in contention.
An eagle on the par five 5th was the highlight of a blistering back nine for the Clara man which included three other birdies on 2,4 and 8.
Starting on the 10th early yesterday morning, Lowry even dropped a shot on his second hole of the day to move back to +1 and looked like being in a fight to make the weekend.
However a nice birdie on 13 was followed up by back to back birdies on 15 and par three 16, setting him up perfectly for his charge on the back nine with a red hot putter.
There's a four-way tie for the clubhouse lead on 10-under.
Seamus Power is 3-under par heading into the weekend.
Graeme McDowell is on his way home however, he missed the cut after disappointing rounds of 74 and 70.
