Shane Lowry Struggles At Opening Day Of US Open

The Offaly man still needs to complete his opening round.

Shane Lowry is four-over-par with four to play after his opening round at the US Open at Shinnecock Hills.

The Offaly man is ten shots off the top. 

Rory McIlroy is five shots off the lead.

Bogeys on the 13th and 16th saw the Masters champions slip back to one-under-par, and in a tie for ninth.

2023 winner Wyndham Clark is the current leader on six-under.

Play was suspended due to darkness at the New York course, so he's yet to finish his opening round,

Padraig Harrington is out today from seven-over, with Graeme McDowell six-over, and they both have work to do to make the weekend.
