High powered backroom team being assembled
Dublin man Shane O'Brien from the Cuala club is set to become the new Westmeath Hurling manager.
His name will go beforeb the next meeting of Westmeath County Board for ratification.
He was the manager of the Dublin U-21 team that reached the All-ireland final in 2011.
It's reported today that he has assembled an impressive backroom which includes Paudie O'Neill from Tipperary who is a former national director of the hurling development committee.
Former Galway star Alan Kerins will also be involved alongside a local selector and another coach yet to be named.
Westmeath will play in Division 1 of the National League in 2020
