They swam 3:49.08 to beat the previous record by three second in Budapest a short time ago.
It gave them a 5th place finish in their heat and 13th place finish overall from 27 competitors.
Darragh Greene, Ellen Walshe and Danielle Hill were also part of the team who are looking to qualify for the Olympics.
