The Portarlington man set a new Irish senior record time of 46.23 seconds to finish sixth in the heats.
Danielle Hill clocked a time of 53.66 seconds in her 100m freestyle heat at the World Short Course Swimming Championships in Budapest this morning.
That was good enough for an eighth placed finish.
And Niamh Coyne was ninth in her heat in the 100m breaststroke in a time of 1:07:40.
