The Portarlington man will swim in two events.
Swim Ireland today confirmed the nine strong team for the Olympic Games including Portarlington's Shane Ryan.
Ryan will take part in his favoured 100m backstroke at the games having achieved the qualifying standard of 53.85 at the National Team trials in April.
He will also compete in the 4x200m Freestyle relay alongside Brendan Hyland, Finn McGeever and Jack McMillan.
Team Ireland has officially selected the Swimming team who will compete in the Olympic Games in Tokyo this summer. Nine Irish swimmers are set to compete across fourteen events, becoming the largest swim team that Ireland has ever fielded in an Olympic Games. pic.twitter.com/5VO5LFpKFn

Ireland had originally qualified a mixed relay team too but it was later discovered that Greece had posted a better time than the Irish quartet earlier this season.
It comes hot on the heels of Tullamore's Jordan Conroy's selection to the men's rugby sevens squad and confirmation that Shane Lowry will represented Ireland alongside Rory McIlroy in the golf event.
The nine strong team in full is:
Darragh Greene
Danielle Hill
Brendan Hyland
Finn McGeever
Jack McMillan
Mona McSharry
Shane Ryan
Ellen Walshe
Daniel Wiffen
