On this day 140 years ago, the GAA was founded in Hayes Hotel, Thurles County Tipperary.
The organisation was created by a small group of members, and since then, has grown to become the countries sporting identity.
There are 61 GAA clubs in Offaly, 48 in Laois and 47 in Westmeath, and every single one has been embedded into their local communities.
