Laois overcame Carlow in Croke Park.

After losing back to back finals, Laois are Joe McDonagh Cup Champions.

The O'Moore County were too strong and too well organised for Carlow in Croke Park.

Laois led their opponents from the 12th minute, their lead was three points at the break, and by the full time whistle they were comfortably ahead.

Clough/Ballacolla's Cillian Dunne played a crucial part in his side's success with 1-06, and picked up the player of the match award while doing it.

The final score was 1-27 to 1-18.

Carlow were the better of the two sides in the competition's opening round but were found wanting in the face of Laois' aggression and accuracy.

Tommy Fitzgerald's side will play Leinster Championship hurling next year after failing short against Offaly and Kildare in successive seasons.
