His most recent role in the league was on the coaching team in Dundalk.
Shane Keegan is back in the League of Ireland after taking up a role fronting the academy set up with Treaty United.
The Rathdowney man has previously worked with several clubs including Wexford, Galway and most recently Dundalk, where he was opposition analyst and later stand in Head Coach during the ill-fated tenure of Fillipo Giovagnoli at the Louth club.
Keegan left that post following the return of Vinny Perth to Dundalk last year and has been working on a number of projects since.
Chairman of the Limerick club Conn Murray spoke highly of the appointment.
“We are very excited as a club to welcome Shane to the academy set up, his national league experience will be invaluable to us as we are still finding our feet as a League of Ireland club.
“Shane will work across our academy set up, developing players, as we continue to support young local talent getting into our first teams”

I look forward to working with the coaches and players at the football club, and with the new season on the horizon, I look forward to adding to the building blocks in place and continue to develop players who will progress to play senior League of Ireland at the club”
