Both counties faced moments of adversity in their Leinster preliminary quarter finals last night.
Both Westmeath and Offaly are into the Leinster Minor Football Championship quarter-finals after last night's provincial action.
Westmeath came back from five points behind at half time, to run out 2-12 to 2-9 winners in their preliminary quarter final.
Offaly had to win their contest against Wicklow in extra-time after the Garden County came back late in the second half of normal time to finish level.
John Hughes' side were the better side in extra time, to secure a 3-20 to 2-13 win.
Westmeath will now face Louth, and Offaly take on Meath in the quarter finals next Thursday, with Dublin and Kildare awaiting the winners in the semi-final stages.
