They kick-off their intermediate campaigns this weekend.
Westmeath begin their bid to reach a second All-Ireland Intermediate final in succession on Sunday.
They lost out in last years decider against Meath but will be hopeful of another deep run in the competition.
Division One of the National League proved a struggle but they came up against some of the top teams in Ireland and it will have been an excellent learning curve for the panel.
Longford are first up for Sean Finnegan's side at TEG Cusack Park in Mullingar with a number of championship debutantes expected to take the field.
Midlands103's Sports Editor Robbie Fahy spoke with Finnegan ahead of the championship kick-off.
Throw-in is at 2pm.
At the same time in Group Four Offaly will start their adventure with a trip to face Down.
The Faithful enter the championship after a positive league campaign which saw them defeat Limerick and Carlow.
They'd go onto lose to Louth in the league semi-final but overall it was a positive outing for the team.
They'll face the wee county again in two weeks time in their other group game and a win this weekend will essentially make that a shootout for qualification from the group.
